The Wirraburra house addresses the street with a humble single storey at street level. The large family house behind steps its way down the site while the roof folds and splits like a leaf. It meets the ground with a frame on the street and soars up to reveal framed views of the tall thin gums and river below. The roof defines space as semi public and private where appropriate and the ceiling inside follows the bends, rises and falls of the roof under which it is hung.
The materials have hues taken from items found on site, a piece of bark unfurled reveals a fuscia pink, and the grey green of the leaves fallen from the gums. To formally enter the house one would drive, ride, walk or skip their way to the heart of the house half way down its length. Cars are hidden under the bedroom wing to avoid a roller door on the street
facing façade.
